Merry Christmas!!

For Christmas this year Andy and I decided to stay in Florida. It was a really hard decision to make. For some reason I have been looking forward to Christmas this year a lot more than usual. In august I was singing jingle bells and looking forward to the Christmas season, plus I knew I would be having a cute baby that I would want family to see. As we got closer to my due date and Christmas Andy and I weren't sure if we were going to make it home, with having a brand new baby and flying during the Christmas season, in winter with all sorts of bugs going around we didn't feel totally comfortable making the long flight home. I was scared of getting stuck at some airport for hours or overnight with a baby due to delayed flights and I had heard every moms scary story of their baby getting sick and ending up in the hospital and then with my c-section that was added to the scale of trying to make the hard decision. We didn't know how my recovery would go and how long it would take. In the end we decided to just stay in Florida this year. We felt good about our decision but we were still sad that we wouldn't be home with family and friends.

So today was just Andy, me and Brayden. It was so special to have Brayden and I think he could feel our excitement in the morning because he was so happy and excited too. But it was also really hard and sad not to be with our families. We did get to skype and see them that way but of course it is not the same. We hope to make it home maybe for Andy's spring break in March.

Here is a BIG thank you to our families for your gifts and we hope you enjoyed ours. We know that Christmas is not about the gifts but about being with family and remembering our Savior, so next year we promise we will make it home! Brayden will be a big one year old!

"what you looking at mom?"
He had so much fun tearing the wrapping paper with dad

We're so sad we didn't get to see you three this Christmas! Oh well, I totally understand the fear of flying home with a newborn too. We were in the same boat last year. :)
