I have employment!

YA! I have two jobs! And they both start next week!

My first job is actually an 8 week internship and only 10 hours a week but I am sooo excited for it! I will be working for Tampa Electric Supply. They are an electric company that does a lot of different stuff that I do not fully comprehend yet. But they are a family owned company and have been in business about 40 years, they started with about 20 employees and now have over 140. The founder of the company is 91 years old and still comes in every week. This company is very family oriented and also offers their employees great health insurance. That is where I come in. They decided to hire on a corporate wellness intern ( me ) to help implement some health and wellness programs to get the employees healthier so the company doesn't have to pay so much in health costs. They already have some health incentives going like the people who don't smoke have lower monthly premiums and the people who do smoke are offered free help to quit and once they do quit they are given $1000 over a course of a year! I will be working with the HR manager to get more programs going and hopefully we will have some success! Some of the programs that I will be in charge of are lunch and learns, organized walks, and a biggest loser contest. The majority of the employees are men so I have to be creative and think like a man to get their enrollment in my health programs. Money is always a good incentive, we have a meeting on Tuesday with the health insurance company and the owners of the company to see what kind of funding we are going to be getting.

My other job starts next week and I will be working with a company that gets foreclosed homes ready to sell. What that entails I am not sure but I found out about the job through a girl I met at church. She will be training me on Monday so I will get more info soon. This job is definitely not my ideal job, they pay really low and have no benefits whatsoever, but it is all I got so I took it.

I am happy that I have a job now and one is at least a job that I will really enjoy, it will be a challenge but a rewarding and learning experience for me. It's also nice because these two companies are pretty much right next to each other so I can go back and forth easily.
