Andy and I this past weekend got to go to the O.C. Tanner Gift of Music in the Conference Center. It was a lot of fun! It is a concert that is put on every year and is free. Every year it has a different theme and this year was "An American Songbook." It featured the Utah Symphony, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Denyce Graves (famous opera singer), and Brian Stokes Mitchell (famous Broadway singer). So they sang a lot of patriotic songs and early love and Broadway songs that originated in America. Brian and Denyce were amazing and of course the Motab is always good. They sang their Grammy winning song "Battle Hymn of the Republic." The audience was pretty entertaining too, there were some fanatic fans there. One lady was crying during one of Brian's songs and then one women flung herself to her feet and was frantically clapping and telling her friends to stand up, while hooting and yelling. Another lady sitting behind us sang along with every song she knew. Andy and I didn't think that was very funny, in Andy's words he wanted to turn around and punch her... luckily he didn't and luckily she only knew a few of the songs. All in all it was a fun night, something different to do, and I always like getting dressed up.
